Maybe it's just me, but I really feel strongly that a lot of this is just pure randomness. The intro I am not really liking the offbeat kicks, they feel really out of place. Some of notes I can't really tell if they're in the right scale that you're using. Some sound out of tune. I will say that I like the transition into the second part of the song and then into the ending. But I've still got to say, it really does sound like pure randomness. The final verdict? I like it, but with the few flaws that I've uncovered... this piece really needs some work to make it great. Now that I see in one of your tags that it says horror, I definitely feel that effect. Bonus points to my vote then I suppose, haha.

To the person underneath me, they're an asshole... Really? They vote a zero just because of one flaw and an opinion at that. Alright, onto the review then. I've got to say... I do agree that the vocals just don't really seem like they should be on a song like this. They also seemed to overpower the song a little too much, maybe bring the volume down 3 decibels. The melody... oh man, do I love that melody! It left me craving more when the song faded out in the end. Is this a work in progress, or are you leaving it at this? One last thing... next time you make a song, do not use the default kick, clap, hat, and snare. It takes away from the originality. Not too big of a deal, but just throwing that out there. In all? A great piece of work with mild flaws.

I'm loving the intro! The way the song fades in from "fog", I like to call it, is great. The leads hit home too. My god I can't get enough of this song, haha. The bassline for the song... it's leaving me speechless. Usually I like to find something that the song is missing and pick on that "something" for awhile in my review, but I haven't been able to find anything wrong with your piece. Congratulations then? haha, great song you guys, and keep up the great work!

AeronMusic responds:

That's great to hear. Many thanks for the comment! We appreciate it very much! :D

I like the drums. The hat kind of gets annoying after a little while so some more diversity in the drums would be great. The lead, like everyone else is saying, is definitely too loud. Tune it down a bit and the song would be great! I'd say your work is good, but some more diversity in instruments would also be great. Perhaps add a bassline to the song also, or some other instrument. Just having one instrument/lead makes the song feel kind of bland.

Really love the intro with the hard kicks that come in at the perfect time. A lot of the transitions are perfect. The one flaw that I see in this project is that the vocals have a wah-wah effect to them that doesn't really seem appealing, at least to me. Not too big of a deal, but it makes it seem like its the bass of the kick that makes that effect happen to the vocals. In all, I love the leads that you picked for the song and the sweep up transition added a nice effect to the song overall. I really can't get over how nice the transitions are, haha. Awesome song, hopefully I will see more of your work in the future.

I had orignally not had the vocals be affected by the kick's power and changed it just to see how it'd sound. I found myself gravitating toward this because, to me, it sounded better. without the up-down "wah wah" effect as you call it, the song felt very flat.

Awesome song. I really like the chord progression that you have going, although the only flaw I see is that for some reason the progression seems a little too repetitive and doesn't change enough for almost being a four minute song. It's good regardless, it's just something I would expect to change a little more especially when its one of the few instruments in the song.

The intro reminds me of a classic song here on Newgrounds called [[=Please Intro=]] and the emotion in it is amazing. Love the drum beat in this one and the transition at 1:59 was totally unexpected but it was great! Some would probably disagree but I actually really liked how the song ends so abruptly, adds to the effect of the song.

Was not expecting the relaxing intro to switch to being so heavy all of a sudden haha. Love the fast transitions, makes a short song actually feel finished and complete especially when there are so many. This one I actually do have a complaint. When the drums come in for the first time, they seem to be overpowering the song a little too much, but perhaps it's just my headphones. The rest of the song is great in my idea and I love the second transition where you bring in the guitar from the intro again. Kind of reminds me of Linkin Park a little bit. Awesome song.

Lublub194 responds:

It's almost the same in the end as the outro, but it's a bit different. I suppose you could be right about the whole over powered drums. It's just something I pushed out quick to go against fire118. We're having a djentoff :)

Check his stuff too! It's pretty awesome! Far better than mine!

And I thought that last song reminded me of DooM. Dude, this is awesome. Got to be the best intro I've heard in a song in a long time. Got me hooked. The distorted guitar is definitely DooM, haha I love this so much. When it got to the end I was begging for more. Thanks for awaking a blast from the past. Time to put Doom 3 BFG edition in my xbox and play some DooM.

Lublub194 responds:

:3 Glad you enjoyed it! I felt super accomplished when I had finally finished this. It took me a good couple hours just to get the drop right. I watched the doom 3 trailer, over, and over, and over, and over again, until BAM! This.

Glad you liked it man! I always appreciate your reviews!

The quality is insane and I love the guitar. Kind of reminds me of original DooM music, but more hardcore. Is it just you playing the guitar, recording it, then playing the drums and recording those? That would probably be a pain in the ass but that's how Serj Tankian makes his songs. Glad to see you're still posting stuff to Newgrounds. I've got to go check out your other two recent submissions now.

For over a decade, music has been my passion. I've been on Newgrounds since I was 5. That's nearly 20 years! I'll always remember this place as where it all began.
